Sita comes on-board Red Sea International’s terminal operation

SITA will deliver smart solutions powering everything from passenger processing to baggage reconciliation, airport operations, and beyond

SITA, a global leader in air transport technology, has announced a strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Airport (RSI) to provide cutting-edge systems for the airport’s new Main Terminal Building.

The collaboration builds on SITA’s successful deployment of advanced systems at RSI’s Air Taxi Terminal and reinforces the airport’s vision of becoming a global model for innovation and sustainability in air travel.

Driving Seamless Passenger Experiences

Red Sea International Airport, a key gateway to The Red Sea destination developed by Red Sea Global, is expected to welcome one million guests annually by 2030, with a peak capacity of 900 passengers per hour. To manage this volume, RSI is leveraging SITA’s suite of smart airport solutions to create a digitally powered passenger journey, ensuring smooth operations and enhancing the traveler experience.

SITA’s technology will automate and streamline various airport processes. The SITA Flex and Maestro systems will automate check-in and departure processes, allowing passengers to use their mobile devices as remote controls for their journeys. Meanwhile, the SITA Bag Manager solution will provide real-time baggage tracking, offering passengers peace of mind and freeing up staff for more complex tasks. Additionally, a suite of airport management tools will enable RSI to dynamically monitor and reallocate resources as needed, ensuring operational efficiency. To keep passengers informed, SITA’s Information Display Systems will deliver real-time flight updates throughout the terminal.

Sustainability and Innovation at the Forefront

Andrew Tyler Smith, Chief Guest Experience Officer at RSI, emphasised the airport’s commitment to integrating sustainable and innovative practices. He stated, “As the gateway to The Red Sea destination, we aim to be a world-leading facility. Our vision is to leverage advanced technologies to enhance guest experiences while upholding our dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship. SITA’s solutions align with our mission to deliver reliable, seamlessly interoperable technologies that enable this vision.”

Building on Proven Success

This new partnership benefits from SITA’s existing infrastructure at RSI’s Air Taxi Terminal, enabling the swift and economical implementation of systems in the Main Terminal Building. The interoperability of SITA’s solutions will ensure seamless operations, streamlining processes for airport teams and passengers alike.

Selim Bouri, President, Middle East & Africa at SITA, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “Our comprehensive suite of solutions will empower RSI to rise to the challenge of welcoming increasing traveler volumes efficiently while enhancing the passenger experience at every step. We are proud to collaborate with RSI and to contribute to its vision of being a global leader in innovation and sustainability.”

A Gateway to a World-Class Destination

The Main Terminal Building represents RSI’s ambition to be a pivotal part of The Red Sea destination’s development. By integrating cutting-edge technology, the airport aims to redefine passenger experiences while supporting Saudi Arabia’s broader goals of innovation and sustainable growth in tourism.
