Tadweer and Abu Dhabi Airports partner to explore progressive waste management practices

Tadweer and Abu Dhabi Airports pen agreement to implement comprehensive waste management solutions at the airports

Tadweer (Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company) and Abu Dhabi Airports have formally inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant step towards pioneering waste management practices across the Emirate’s five airports and fostering the realisation of a circular economy.

Under the provisions of this landmark MoU, Tadweer and Abu Dhabi Airports are set to collaborate intensively, with a primary focus on raising awareness and implementing comprehensive waste management solutions at the airports. This collaborative effort aims to significantly reduce waste disposal in landfills, introduce custom monitoring and reporting systems, and promote circularity within the airport ecosystem.

By doing so, this partnership aligns perfectly with Abu Dhabi’s unwavering commitment to sustainable waste management practices.

Eng. Ali Al Dhaheri, CEO and Managing Director of Tadweer, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “Our collaboration with Abu Dhabi Airports is a testament to our unwavering commitment to redefining waste management in the Emirate and keeping pace with the global transition towards a circular economy. This partnership aligns with Tadweer’s mission to build an integrated waste management system and drive the conversion of waste into an economic asset. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership presents to drive a sustainable and greener future for Abu Dhabi.”

Elena Sorlini, Managing Director & Interim CEO at Abu Dhabi Airports, shared her perspective on the partnership’s significance: “As the UAE looks forward to welcoming COP28, in conjunction with 2023 as the Year of Sustainability, it is essential to increase knowledge and education on sustainability, waste management, and responsible behaviors. Through this partnership, we aim to deliver on our ambition to promote a circular economy across our ecosystem. We firmly believe that Tadweer can support us in realising our ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) ambitions for Terminal A and are keen to be involved in this collaboration.”

This strategic partnership between Tadweer and Abu Dhabi Airports represents a pivotal moment in the journey towards a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future for the Emirate. By working together, these organisations will pave the way for innovative waste management solutions and contribute significantly to Abu Dhabi’s sustainability goals.
