Toyota GR86 Coupe debuts in Dubai

The GR86 boasts significant improvements, including a more powerful 2.4L boxer engine that increases horsepower to 233 and torque to 250 nm

Toyota GR owners in the United Arab Emirates were treated to the first look at the new Toyota GR86 Coupe. The unveiling took place during the ‘Suhoor on the Track’ event at the Dubai Autodrome, hosted by Al-Futtaim Toyota.

Attendees experienced the blend of fine dining and high-speed thrills on one of Dubai’s most celebrated racing circuits.

The new Toyota GR86 is poised to add a fresh layer of excitement for sports car enthusiasts across the UAE, says Al-Futtaim Toyota and joins the firm’s GAZOO RACING (GR) collection and is designed to offer accessible sports car performance with a keen focus on enhanced handling and agility.

A decade after the launch of its predecessor, the FT86, the new GR86 evolves with a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive, staying true to Toyota’s commitment to fun, responsive driving experiences. It incorporates advancements like a lower center of gravity and increased frame rigidity for better stability and steering.

Jacques Brent, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Toyota & Lexus, expressed his enthusiasm about the new release: “We are thrilled to introduce the new GR86 to our customers here in the UAE. Developed by GAZOO RACING, this car is crafted for enthusiasts by enthusiasts. It promises a visceral driving experience that is emblematic of the GR heritage.”

The GR86 boasts significant improvements over its predecessor, including a more powerful 2.4L boxer engine that increases horsepower to 233 and torque to 250 nm. This enhancement allows the coupe to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h faster, now achievable in just over 6 seconds with both manual and automatic transmissions.

Stylistically, the GR86 features a streamlined profile with a GR-specific front grille, angular LED headlights, and functional exterior vents that contribute to its aerodynamic efficiency and sporty aesthetics. The cockpit is designed to enhance the driving experience with features like a 7-inch TFT screen displaying digital instrumentation and sport bucket seats that ensure comfort and control during spirited driving.

The new GR86 is not only about performance but also offers practicality and safety with features like a multimedia touchscreen, advanced connectivity options, and comprehensive safety systems including numerous airbags and stability control features.

With a choice of seven distinctive exterior colours and modern, sporty interior options, the GR86 is customisable to suit any style. The vehicle also offers a choice between stylish 17-inch or sporty 18-inch wheels, accentuating its dynamic presence.
