Al-Futtaim BYD launches TI-7 plug-in hybrid SUV in UAE

New plug-in hybrid model combines long-range efficiency, off-road capability and advanced driver assistance technologies as demand for electrified vehicles grows across the GCC

Al-Futtaim BYD has launched the new TI-7 plug-in hybrid SUV in the UAE, expanding the brand’s electrified vehicle portfolio with a model designed to combine long-range hybrid efficiency, off-road capability and advanced in-vehicle technology.

The introduction of the TI-7 comes as demand for lower-emission vehicles continues to grow across the GCC, supported by government initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and accelerating the adoption of sustainable transport solutions.

Available now across Al-Futtaim BYD showrooms in the UAE, with prices starting from AED 156,900, the TI-7 is powered by BYD’s DM-p (Dual Mode-performance) intelligent dual-motor all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid system. The powertrain combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors to deliver a total output of 480hp and 630Nm of torque.

According to BYD, the SUV can accelerate from 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds while offering a combined driving range of up to 870km under the WLTC testing cycle. The vehicle can also travel up to 80km in pure electric mode, providing an option for emissions-free urban driving.

Positioned as a lifestyle-focused SUV, the TI-7 has been developed for both on-road and off-road use. It features all-wheel drive and BYD’s DiSus-C Intelligent Damping System, incorporating double wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear suspension. Multiple terrain settings, including Mud, Sand, Snow and Mountain modes, are complemented by specialist features such as Tank Turn, Crawl Mode and Track Mode.

The model adopts a rugged exterior design inspired by BYD’s “Interstellar Ark” styling language, while the cabin focuses on comfort, technology and practicality. Standard equipment includes a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, while higher-specification variants add a 26-inch head-up display.

Additional features include a 14-speaker Dirac audio system, ventilated front and rear seats, massage and memory functions on selected trims, a 4.5-litre in-car refrigerator and a PM2.5 air purification system.

Safety has also been prioritised, with BYD stating that the TI-7 has been engineered to achieve dual five-star safety ratings. The SUV is equipped with nine airbags and the DiPilot 5 driver assistance suite, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Control, Tyre Deflation Stability Control and a 360-degree panoramic camera.

The launch reflects a broader shift within the automotive sector towards electrification. As governments across the GCC implement increasingly stringent emissions regulations, hybrid and electric vehicles are expected to play a growing role in supporting the region’s transition towards greener mobility solutions while strengthening manufacturers’ positions in an evolving market.
