HH Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Fujairah’s Ruler and Supreme Council Member has announced the completion of the new fuelling and shipping port, which was built at a cost of $95.2 million. In his statement, he highlighted the importance of strengthening Fujairah’s position in the country’s maritime sector, through the launch of the new port.
HH Sheikh Hamad made the statement during his visit at the emirate’s new refuelling and shipping port, which was constructed by the Fujairah Government. The new port, which can provide logistical services to more than 14,000 ships, aims to provide comprehensive services at the highest international standards to all ships along Fujairah’s coast.
The new port will also become the first specialist service port in the Middle East to be fully adopt environmentally friendly standards, and will ensure that the emirate is able to provide maritime services to all types of ships and oil tankers.
HH Sheikh Hamad was briefed about the mechanisms of operation by engineers and technicians while he directed the project’s officials to adopt the best technologies to provide fast and distinguished services to all types of ships.
HH Sheikh Hamad was accompanied by Sheikh Saleh bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, chairman of the Department of Industry and Economy and chairman of the Port of Fujairah, Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, director of the Emiri Court of Fujairah, and Captain Moussa Mourad, director of the Port of Fujairah, as well as several local officials.
