Kizad breaks ground on new warehouse and industrial units in logistics park

Kizad says the new park promises low costs for firms including the region's lowest utility costs

Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) has announced that it has broken ground on small-to-medium light-industrial warehousing and industrial units within the Kizad Logistics Park (KLP). The move is said to reflect its efforts to meet the growing and diverse demands of the industry.

According to Kizad, the units comprise the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh phases of the logistics park and will be introduced to the market starting by the end of the year, to cater to increasing demands for ready-to-move facilities.

The launch of the new units is the latest in a series of recent developments at the industrial zone. Earlier in the month, Kizad broke ground on a dedicated Truck Plaza to meet the needs of truck drivers and the zone’s growing industrial community.

“Industrial activity and warehousing demand has been quite resilient, and we are confident that launching these ultra-modern units will propel tremendous growth in Abu Dhabi’s manufacturing base. Customers are looking for flexible and asset-light options, and we are expanding our portfolio to address these needs through the launching of a new modular, pre-built units in various sizes and configurations,” said Abdullah Al Hameli, acting head of Industrial Zones Cluster at Abu Dhabi Ports, the parent company behind Kizad.

The new developments in KLP 4 and KLP 5 span a total plot area of 250,000sqm and offer a range of mixed-use warehousing and light industrial units, the statement said. KLP 6 & KLP 7 are said to offer dedicated plots spanning a total of 330,000sqm, housing 20 large terraced units each with an individual floor space of 2,500sqm. KLP 7 will feature 56 medium light-industrial and warehousing units.

“With the availability of options to buy or lease warehouses based upon a business’ individual requirements, investors are benefitting from our flexible offers for low-cost operations at scale as well as our ability to offer the region’s lowest utility costs. This is complemented by the unique location at the industrial heart of the UAE, and its direct access to global markets via our flagship deep-water port, Khalifa Port,” explained Al Hameli.
