Tata Motors LPO 1622 bus launch in Qatar strengthens regional presence

Tata Motors also unveils an enhanced range of Euro-V compliant Prima trucks in Qatar

Tata Motors, in collaboration with its official Qatari distributor Al Hamad Automobiles, has launched the all-new Tata LPO 1622 staff bus in the country — its first Euro VI-compliant bus in the Middle East.

The launch bolsters Tata Motors’ growing presence in some of the region’s key mobility markets.

Developed specifically for staff transportation, the LPO 1622 has been engineered to offer enhanced passenger comfort, improved safety features, and a best-in-class total cost of ownership. The model delivers 220hp and 925Nm of torque via a Cummins ISBe 5.6L engine and is available in 65-seater and 61-seater configurations.

Together, with its durable aggregates, spacious and ergonomic seating, and low operating costs, the LPO 1622 bus is suitable for fleet operators seeking long-term value, high uptime, and an enhanced passenger experience.

“The Middle East continues to be a strategic focus for Tata Motors, where our products have consistently delivered value across a range of applications,” said Asif Shamim, Head of International Business, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles. “With Qatar being a key market, we are pleased to further strengthen our presence with the launch of the all-new LPO 1622 bus, designed to offer higher profitability to customers and superior comfort to passengers.”

The new model incorporates modern features such as Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Cruise Control, and a Multimode Switch, enabling fleet operators to optimise performance across diverse operational conditions. Safety is further reinforced through a full air dual-circuit braking system with ABS, tubeless radial tyres, and a heavy-duty suspension setup.

Mohamed Yousef Al Mana, Chairman of Al Hamad Automobiles, added: “We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Tata Motors and support the expansion of their commercial vehicle portfolio in Qatar. Our wide service network, combined with easy access to genuine spare parts, ensures maximum uptime and long-term value for our customers.”

In addition to the new bus model, Tata Motors also unveiled an enhanced range of Euro-V compliant Prima trucks in Qatar. These include the Prima 4040.K tipper, 4440.S and 6040.S tractors, and the 4040.T truck, designed to meet the country’s growing infrastructure and construction demands.

Tata Motors currently operates across more than 40 countries and offers a full range of commercial vehicles, from sub-1-tonne cargo trucks to 71-seater buses. Its vehicles are developed with rigorous R&D and testing to meet the performance and durability needs of diverse markets.
