AFM Automotive opens the Middle East’s First IMI-Accredited electric mobility training centre

The Electric Mobility Centre is the final piece of our EV value chain, says Antoine Barthes, Vice-President at Al-Futtaim Automotive

Al-Futtaim Automotive has unveiled the Middle East’s inaugural IMI-accredited Electric Mobility Training Center, housed within its dedicated Learning & Development facility in Dubai, UAE.

The Center represents a significant stride in closing the gap in electric mobility expertise within the region, setting a remarkable precedent for the automotive industry. It aims to deliver top-tier service and support for hybrid and electric vehicles while bolstering customer confidence in transitioning to electric mobility.

The establishment of the Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Training Centre is said to underscore the company’s commitment to sustainability and the future of mobility in the UAE. This multi-million Dirham investment, developed in collaboration with the internationally recognized EV qualification body, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), and state-of-the-art learning solutions provider, Lucas-Nulle, is poised to transform the automotive landscape.

At this cutting-edge facility, automotive technicians will partake in immersive training led by IMI-certified trainers, delving into the intricacies of electric drivetrains, battery management systems, and software diagnostics. The goal is to equip technicians with the skills and tools essential to meet the evolving demands of the automotive market while emphasizing the importance of safety protocols.

Antoine Barthes, Vice-President at Al-Futtaim Automotive, emphasized the significance of the Electric Mobility Training Centre, stating, “The Electric Mobility Centre is the final piece of our EV value chain. We have made this substantial investment to clearly reinforce our commitment to the UAE’s sustainable ecosystem and the future of mobility. By providing our technicians with cutting-edge training, we are empowering them with all the necessary skills and tools to meet the demands of the evolving automotive market and understand the importance of safer procedures.”

The center boasts a state-of-the-art laboratory equipped with advanced simulation equipment, alongside a cut-away electric vehicle showcasing various high-voltage system components. This immersive learning environment is expected to foster the development of a highly skilled workforce, promote technological literacy, and encourage industry collaboration, ultimately contributing to the establishment of a sustainable and thriving EV ecosystem.

Al-Futtaim Automotive’s ambitious goal is to achieve 100% IMI certification for its technicians. This certification ensures top-tier after-sales service and maintenance, offering customers trust, assurance, and peace of mind when it comes to their electric vehicles.

As the electric vehicle sector continues to expand, the Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Training Centre emerges as a beacon of excellence and expertise in the region’s pursuit of sustainable transportation solutions.
