BMW to provide VIP services at COP28

COP28 UAE Presidency’s vision correlates with BMW's commitment to technology orientation solutions and the Paris Climate Agreement

BMW Group has confirmed its role as the VIP E-Mobility Provider for the upcoming COP28 UAE. This major event, set to take place from November 30 to December 12, 2023, in Dubai, will see BMW Group playing a pivotal role in the transportation of VIP guests and officials.

Central to this initiative is the deployment of BMW’s cutting-edge electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles – the BMW i7, BMW iX, and the innovative BMW iX5 Hydrogen. These vehicles not only represent the zenith of automotive technology but also align closely with the principles of environmental sustainability and innovation.

The flagship BMW i7 features components powered by sustainably-sourced solar electrons produced in the UAE by Emirates Global Aluminum. This approach significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions during the vehicle’s production cycle, highlighting BMW’s commitment to sustainable practices.

The BMW iX, on the other hand, is an of BMW Group’s dedication to circular design. This concept revolves around maximising the lifecycle of materials, ensuring they retain their value and reduce the overall carbon footprint of BMW’s vehicles. The emphasis is on the use of high-quality secondary materials, further underlining the company’s eco-friendly initiatives.

Adding to this lineup is the BMW iX5 Hydrogen, which has recently completed intensive hot-weather testing in the UAE. This pilot vehicle is ideally suited for long journeys with minimal refueling stops, boasting a locally emissions-free drive.

The hydrogen fuel cell technology, subject to specific framework, has the potential to be another pillar in the future BMW Group drive portfolio.

Commenting on the announcement, Christian Bahoo, Global Head of Special Political Engagement, BMW Group said: “The COP28 UAE Presidency’s vision correlates with BMW’s commitment to technology orientation solutions and the Paris Climate Agreement. At COP28, the BMW Group will present solutions and discuss the requirements which we consider necessary to achieve the transformation to sustainable mobility.”
