Aramex says new Chief Sustainability Officer proves it is ‘doubling down’ on sustainability

Manosij Ganguli brings a wealth of experience in decarbonisation having held prominent positions at the Energy Transitions Commission and MPP)in London

Aramex, a leading global provider of comprehensive logistics and transportation solutions, has made a significant move in its sustainability journey by appointing Manosij Ganguli as Group Chief Sustainability Officer.

This strategic appointment underscores Aramex’s dedication to not only maintaining its position as a regional leader in sustainability but also elevating its efforts to new heights.

Manosij Ganguli brings a wealth of experience in global decarbonisation to Aramex, having held prominent positions at the Energy Transitions Commission and Mission Possible Partnership (MPP) in London, as well as serving as the Global Program Director at BP. During his tenure at MPP and BP, Manosij led transformative programmes across multiple continents, demonstrating his ability to translate ambitious sustainability goals into actionable strategies. His extensive experience and proven track record make him a valuable addition to the Aramex team.

In his new role, Manosij will lead Aramex’s sustainability agenda, ensuring that the company continues to innovate and implement best practices in environmental stewardship. This appointment is in line with Aramex’s longstanding commitment to integrating sustainability into its operations. The company has consistently prioritised environmental considerations alongside its growth, employing innovative solutions to reduce carbon emissions and adopting energy-efficient technologies across its global network.

Aramex’s comprehensive approach to sustainability is underpinned by evidence-based strategies designed to meet the needs of consumers, businesses, and stakeholders. The company has demonstrated its commitment through proactive measures such as investments in renewable energy, carbon footprint reduction programmes, sustainable packaging solutions, and the deployment of zero and low-emission delivery vehicles. Aramex has also developed eco-friendly logistics hubs as part of its broader sustainability initiatives.

One of the key components of Aramex’s sustainability efforts is the use of solar energy systems, which currently supply the majority of energy needs for its warehouses in Dubai, UAE, and Amman, Jordan. Additionally, the company’s carbon footprint reduction initiatives in 2023 included fleet optimisation, which significantly reduced emissions and driving distances by streamlining routes and upgrading Aramex trucks to the Euro V emission standard. In the UAE, Aramex has further enhanced its sustainability efforts by integrating electric motorcycles (e-bikes) into its last-mile delivery operations, with the goal of converting 98% of its fleet to electric by 2030.

Aramex is steadfast in its commitment to achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050. This year, the company will submit its targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aiming for a 1.5°C trajectory for Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 2°C trajectory for Scope 3 emissions. As evidence of its progress, Aramex achieved a 12% reduction in carbon emissions per shipment in 2023.

Commenting on his new role, Manosij Ganguli said, “I am honoured to join Aramex at such a transformative time in its sustainability journey. Aramex has already set a remarkable precedent in environmental stewardship, and I am eager to build on this solid foundation. My vision is to advance our sustainability agenda by integrating innovative, evidence-based strategies that not only reduce our carbon footprint but also enhance our operational efficiency and stakeholder value. Together, we will explore new avenues for sustainable development, bolstering the existing logistics network that is as resilient as it is environmentally responsible.”

Manosij’s expertise will be crucial in expanding on these successful initiatives and exploring new pathways for sustainable development. Under his leadership, Aramex aims to make even greater strides in driving positive environmental impact while continuing to deliver on its promise of exceptional service to its customers.
