The Kia Tasman rolls into Jeddah after UAE testing

Kia’s progressive pickup was tested in UAE’s Al Qudra Desert before making its Jeddah Motor Show debut

Kia Corporation has officially introduced the Kia Tasman, its first-ever pickup truck, showcasing advanced capabilities for both work and leisure. Debuting at the Jeddah Motor Show, the Tasman has been rigorously tested across diverse environments, including the challenging sands of UAE’s Al Qudra desert.

This new addition to Kia’s lineup, which includes sedans, SUVs, commercial, and PBVs (Platform Beyond Vehicle) models, is designed to “Dive into a New Dimension,” setting new standards for ruggedness, versatility, and technology.

The Kia Tasman, marking an expansion of Kia’s diverse lineup of sedans, SUVs, commercial, and PBVs (Platform Beyond Vehicle) models. The Tasman, introduced at the Jeddah Motor Show, promises a transformative experience with advanced capabilities for both work and leisure.

Designed to push boundaries, the Kia Tasman invites customers to “Dive into a New Dimension.” With bold aesthetics, cutting-edge technology, and unparalleled comfort, this model is engineered to redefine the pickup market. Leveraging Kia’s extensive experience in off-road and purpose-built vehicles, the Tasman offers an ultra-spacious cabin and convenience features that promise both functionality and style.

The Tasman draws inspiration from Kia’s robust SUV lineup, particularly the Mohave, to bring impressive off-road capability. Ho Sung Song, President and CEO of Kia, stated, “The Kia Tasman is a progressive pickup truck that follows its own path, combining true pickup values with advanced features for a lifestyle-focused audience.”

Its unique design rejects the oversized styling typical of pickups, favouring a simple, robust structure emphasizing practicality. “The Kia Tasman blends lifestyle and utility, offering a dependable companion for explorers and adventurers,” added Karim Habib, Kia’s Executive Vice President of Design.

The Kia Tasman offers a range of bed configurations, including Single Decker, Double Decker, Sports Bar, and Ladder Rack options, each tailored for different lifestyle and work needs. The Tasman’s advanced suspension system, tested worldwide, provides stability and comfort across diverse terrains, from desert sands to rugged mountain trails.

Additionally, Kia’s Ground View Monitor and all-terrain drivetrain modes such as Desert, Mud, Snow, and Rock ensure superior performance, making the Tasman a strong contender in demanding off-road conditions.

Inside, the Tasman combines practicality with luxury. Equipped with a 12.3-inch panoramic widescreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an optional Harmon Kardon audio system, the cabin is designed for both utility and comfort. With innovations like dual wireless charging pads, hidden storage bins, and the best-in-segment headroom, the Tasman brings a new level of refinement to pickup interiors.

Kia’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) come equipped with lane-keeping assist, blind-spot collision warning, and remote parking assist, making every journey safe and stress-free. For trailer functionality, the Tasman’s ADAS automatically adjusts to trailer specifications for optimized performance.

The Kia Tasman will debut in Korea in early 2025, followed by launches in Australia, Africa, and the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia positioned as a key market. Kia has set a new benchmark with the Tasman, promising a rugged yet refined pickup truck that caters to a new generation of adventure-ready drivers.
