Nissan Altima latest models get power in boost in region

World’s first variable compression production-ready engine is replaces 3.5l V6 in the Middle East

The world’s first variable compression production-ready engine is now replacing Nissan Altima’s 3.5-liter V6 in the Middle East while providing improved performance and 4-cylinder fuel economy, says the company.

Following the successful launch of the all-new 2019 Nissan Altima in the Middle East earlier this year, Nissan says the new 2.0L VC-Turbo engine is available for consumers across the region.

The new VC-Turbo engine by Nissan is the world’s first production-ready variable compression (VC) ratio engine and delivers improved performance and efficiency to add on the Altima’s low and wide exterior look. The car also introduces an elevated luxury experience through its interior design coupled with two new powertrains, and advanced Nissan Intelligent Mobility features. The VC-Turbo engine is one of the most advanced internal combustion engines ever created, and continuously adjusts its compression ratio to optimize power and efficiency.

The new 4-cylinder engine, which replaces the previous generation’s 3.5-liter V6 engine, ensures Altima fans in the Middle East can still enjoy similar performance while providing better fuel efficiency.

Thierry Sabbagh, managing director, Nissan Middle East, said, “As part of Nissan’s steadfast commitment on delivering ground-breaking technology to uplift user-experience, we are thrilled to announce availability of the improved VC-Turbo engine in the Middle East.

Combining the car’s exhilarating style, cutting-edge performance, and affordable luxuriousness, we are confident that the engine advancements made to the existing model will further increase demand for one of the region’s most popular product lines.”

With over 20 years in the making, the development of the Altima’s powerplant technology ushers a new era in combustion engine design that continuously calibrates compression ratio to optimise power and fuel efficiency.

The VC-Turbo provides enhanced performance that offers a double-digit percentage increase in fuel economy. The engine uses both multi-point injection and gasoline direct injection to balance efficiency and power in all conditions. Gasoline direct injection improves combustion efficiency and performance and enables the engine to avoid knocking at higher compression ratios.
