Work is progressing steadily on the Riyadh Metro development, and the mega project is now said to be 75% complete, according to a report by the Saudi Gazette. The metro is scheduled to begin light operations in 2019, with full operations scheduled for 2021.

The project consists of six metro lines, 85 stations and will span a total distance of 176km. Construction work began in Q2, 2014 and the project is expected to serve some 3.6m passengers per day once it is fully operational.
