Tadweer, in collaboration with Renault Trucks and Al Masaood, has launched the first 100% electric waste truck in Abu Dhabi, the first fully electric heavy truck to operate in the Middle East, supporting UAE Net Zero and Year of Sustainability goals.
With Averda and Gorica Group also involved in the trialing work that now begins in earnest, the introduction of the E-Tech waste truck was described as a new era of ‘sustainable transportation’ in the region by Hani Tannir, CEO of Group Industrial, during a lavish launch event at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal.
He added that Al Masaood and Renault Trucks were also extending their successful partnership.
Also attending the event was Olivier de Saint Meleuc, president, Renault Trucks International who said bringing the first heavy duty electric truck to the Middle East is requiring a step by step approach in terms of charging and climate testing but that the announcement was a key part of the company’s global green strategy.
“I am very proud to have this first electric vehicle here in the UAE,” he commented.
Tadweer senior advisor Mark Wood added that using first 100% electric truck in the Middle East with the E-Tech comes at a ‘special time’ with COP28 coming up.
