Al Habtoor Motors, the official partner of Rimac in the UAE, has revealed the Rimac Nevera R, a new addition to the hypercar world that is claimed to potentially redefine high-performance driving.
This latest iteration of the Nevera marks a significant evolution from its predecessor, transforming from a Hyper GT into a Hyper Sports Car with an intense focus on cornering capability and agility.
The Nevera R is designed to embody the Rimac brand’s core values: radical, rebellious, and relentless. It features next-generation All-Wheel Torque Vectoring and advanced braking systems, along with a performance-oriented battery system that delivers an astonishing 2,107 horsepower. This enables the Nevera R to surpass even the record-breaking straight-line performance of the original Nevera, accelerating to 300 km/h (186 mph) in just 8.66 seconds.
Mate Rimac, CEO of the Rimac Group, highlighted the customer-driven evolution of the Nevera R: “When we developed the original Nevera, our goal was to create a Grand Tourer that was both thrilling and accessible. However, many customers wanted a version that emphasised cornering ability, harnessing all the advanced technology on board. The Nevera R is our response: retaining the DNA of the record-breaking Nevera, but with enhancements that make it lighter, faster, and more focused.”
Rimac’s team of designers and engineers have thoroughly reworked the Nevera’s characteristics to create the Nevera R, pushing it further into the hyper sports car category. This includes more focused driving dynamics, a more powerful battery, and advanced braking systems. The Nevera R’s design is performance-driven, featuring clean surfaces, a lower and sleeker profile, and a forward-thrusting stance accentuated by 21-inch rear wheels and 20-inch front wheels.
The front of the Nevera R has been designed to be both striking and aerodynamic, with horizontal lines emphasising its stance and width. The car’s side profile showcases a harmonious balance of body colour and carbon fibre, contributing to its dynamic appearance. New design elements, such as longer-spoked wheels and distinct colour contrasts, enhance its aggressive look. The large fixed rear wing, along with an aggressive aero package, increases downforce by 15% and improves aerodynamic efficiency by 10%. The addition of new Michelin Cup 2 tyres enhances grip and reduces understeer, resulting in a 3.8-second improvement in lap time around the Nardo Handling Track.
The Nevera R is not just about raw power; it also offers improved driver feedback with sharper, tighter cornering. The re-tuned All-Wheel Torque Vectoring (R-AWTV) system maximises the potential of the high-performance tyres, while increased downforce ensures greater stability and lateral performance. These features set a new benchmark for driving excitement, particularly on twisty roads and during occasional track use. The traction control system has been refined to complement the R-AWTV, ensuring predictability even in wet conditions. The steering system has also been fine-tuned for sharper response and more precise feedback.
At the heart of the Nevera R is Rimac’s next-generation 108kWh battery pack, which delivers more power and efficiency in a lighter package. With 2,107 horsepower at its disposal, the Nevera R is even quicker than its predecessor. The new EVO2 brakes, made of carbon ceramic with a silicone matrix layer, provide improved stopping power, cooling performance, and durability during intense driving.
Key performance figures for the Nevera R include a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph), or 412 km/h (256 mph) with manufacturer oversight, and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.74 seconds. The car also achieves 0 to 300 km/h (186 mph) in 8.66 seconds and completes a quarter-mile run in 8.23 seconds.
Launched in Nebula green, the Nevera R represents a visual evolution of the Rimac story, translating the Time Attack’s Lightning Green highlights into a new colour palette for both the interior and exterior. The ultra-customisable interior of the Nevera has been updated with additional colour and trim options, including painted carbon features that can match the exterior or be personalised to the customer’s preference.
Production of the Nevera R will be limited to just 40 units worldwide, making it a rare and highly coveted addition to the hypercar market.
