AJEX Logistics Services set to expand with new facility at Bahrain Cargo Village

AJEX inks agreement to boost logistics presence in Bahrain, supporting growing regional trade and e-commerce demand

AJEX Logistics Services (AJEX), a prominent express distribution and shipping solutions provider in the Middle East, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Bahrain Airport to establish a cutting-edge logistics facility at Bahrain Cargo Village.

The agreement, formalized during the Bahrain International Airshow held at Sakhir Airbase from November 13 to 15, marks a significant step in AJEX’s plans to enhance its footprint across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

The signing ceremony brought together key figures, including Naser Alateeq, Gateways & Network Operations Development Director at AJEX, and Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, CEO of Bahrain Airport Company. Other notable attendees included Mohammed Albayati, Group CEO of AJEX, Ayman Al Markhi, General Manager of Bahrain, and Ali Al Mudaifa, Chief of Business Development at Bahrain Economic Development Board.

“This agreement with Bahrain Airport strategically positions AJEX to harness the Kingdom’s evolving trade ecosystem,” said Naser Alateeq. “A facility at Bahrain Cargo Village will enable us to address the rising demands of the e-commerce and industrial sectors across Bahrain and the wider MENA region, delivering seamless and reliable logistics solutions.”

Rising Trade in Bahrain Supports AJEX’s Expansion

Bahrain’s trade sector continues to show steady growth, creating a conducive environment for AJEX’s planned expansion. The Kingdom saw a 3% year-on-year increase in non-oil imports during Q3 2024, reaching BD1,443 million. Meanwhile, non-oil exports rose by 1% to BD949 million over the same period. Bahrain International Airport also reported robust activity, handling 31,938 tons of cargo in September 2024 alone.

The increasing trade activity underlines the critical role of logistics in driving economic growth, with AJEX’s new facility set to support this upward trajectory. By situating its operations within Bahrain Cargo Village, the company aims to streamline supply chain operations for its customers while reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a regional logistics hub.

Boosting Regional Connectivity and Customer Experience

The new facility reflects AJEX’s commitment to enabling businesses in Bahrain and the Middle East to navigate an increasingly competitive market. It will provide state-of-the-art logistics infrastructure designed to meet the needs of a growing customer base while fostering innovation and operational efficiency in the region’s logistics sector.

“A new facility in Bahrain will empower us to serve our customers with even greater efficiency and reliability,” added Alateeq. “This collaboration will not only enhance our logistics capabilities but also contribute to the growth and modernization of the regional logistics landscape.”
