Aramex and ZK Holding set to strengthen logistics and courier services in Iraq

Aramex plans to significantly expand its existing footprint in Iraq by leveraging ZK Holding’s vast network of over 7,000 points of sales

Aramex, a leading global provider of comprehensive logistics and transportation solutions, has announced a strategic joint venture with Abu Dhabi-based ZK Holding. The partnership will deliver fully integrated logistics services, including domestic and international courier, freight forwarding, and contract logistics, to support both local and international businesses in Iraq.

With this collaboration, Aramex plans to significantly expand its existing footprint in Iraq by leveraging ZK Holding’s vast network, which includes over 7,000 points of sales across the country. This extensive reach will enable efficient pick-up and drop-off services in more than 15 cities across Iraq, ensuring smoother logistics operations nationwide.

Operations under the joint venture are set to begin in the first quarter of 2025. The partnership aims to serve both corporate and retail customers, unlocking new trade routes, facilitating cross-border trade, and enabling businesses to access new markets. This initiative is expected to play a key role in driving Iraq’s economic growth by supporting its burgeoning logistics sector.

Othman Aljeda, CEO of Aramex, said: “We are excited to join forces with ZK Holding to further grow our presence in Iraq, a market with significant potential. This partnership will allow us to enhance our offerings, helping to drive trade and economic growth in Iraq and beyond. We look forward to working together with ZK to provide seamless trading solutions that benefit businesses and consumers alike.”

Dr. Zead Khalaf, Chairman of ZK Holding Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are proud of this strategic collaboration with Aramex, which reflects ZK Holding’s ambition for regional expansion and its pivotal role in promoting growth by entering new markets. Through our sister companies, we will provide integrated logistics solutions and facilitate cross-border trade using our capabilities in the financial, industrial, and logistics sectors.”

Khalaf also noted that the joint venture marks a significant milestone for ZK Holding’s regional growth strategy, stating, “This collaboration will help us achieve our shared goals and deliver exceptional services to our customers, both now and in the future, according to the highest global standards.”

The timing of this partnership coincides with significant growth opportunities in Iraq’s e-commerce market, which is expected to grow at an 11% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between 2024 and 2029, reaching a projected market volume of USD 6.3 billion by 2029, according to Statista. By combining Aramex’s global logistics expertise with ZK Holding’s strong local presence, the new joint venture aims to build a robust logistics ecosystem that will unlock Iraq’s market potential and contribute to its economic development.

This collaboration further strengthens Aramex’s leadership position in the Middle East and is set to enhance trade and commerce across the region.
