The Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) has introduced SteerAI, a new technology venture poised to redefine autonomous solutions for industrial vehicles. Spearheaded by VentureOne, ATRC’s commercialisation arm, SteerAI combines cutting-edge AI-powered software and hardware kits, enabling ground vehicles to operate autonomously with unparalleled precision.
SteerAI initially targets the logistics and defense sectors, offering a transformative mobility system designed to automate vehicles for complex missions while minimising human involvement, enhancing safety, and boosting operational efficiency. This innovative technology stems from research by experts at the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), ATRC’s applied research branch.
H.E. Faisal Al Bannai, Adviser to the UAE President and Secretary General of ATRC, emphasized the UAE’s growing prominence in autonomous technology, stating, “SteerAI is a significant milestone that underscores our commitment to leading in innovation and translating pioneering research into impactful solutions.”
Unlike standard autonomous vehicles, SteerAI’s system acts as a versatile “brain” for a wide range of vehicles, according to Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII. “With advanced navigation algorithms and high-tech sensors, our modular system can seamlessly integrate with any vehicle platform, revolutionising the way we move,” she explained.
SteerAI’s autonomous vehicles are designed to navigate consistently between designated points, swiftly responding to obstacles and hazards in real time—even in challenging or unmapped environments. Additionally, its fleet management tools support remote mission planning and monitoring, offering data-driven analytics for optimal vehicle performance and deployment.
Reda Nidhakou, Acting CEO of VentureOne, commented on SteerAI’s value for industries with high-stakes operational demands, such as logistics and defense. “Our vehicle-agnostic system redefines efficiency and precision, protecting people while maximizing resource utilization,” he said. “Our goal is to empower our partners to operate more effectively through advanced technology.”
This launch marks VentureOne’s second project, following AI71, a venture focused on business solutions using TII’s Falcon generative AI models.
