As part of its participation in GITEX Global 2024, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) Association, has launched the nol Student Package. This initiative provides a wide array of benefits designed for school and university students across the UAE, with a special focus on Dubai.
The nol Student Package offers a single card that unlocks numerous advantages for students. One of the standout features is a 50% discount on all public transport services operated by the RTA, including the metro, tram, buses, and marine transport. This discount aims to make daily commuting more affordable for students and support the RTA’s goal of increasing public transport usage among the younger population.
Beyond public transport, the nol Student Card provides students with discounts of up to 70% on both local and international brands, which can be accessed across the UAE and abroad. The card also functions as a payment method at various retail stores throughout the UAE, making it a versatile tool for students.
In addition to these benefits, students will receive a personalized international student identification card integrated with their nol card. This dual-purpose card can be requested through the nol Pay app and will be delivered directly to the student’s designated address.
Later this year, the updated nol Student Card will introduce new features designed to provide more control and convenience for parents. These features will allow parents to top up balances and manage daily expenses, ensuring students have a seamless travel and spending experience. This comprehensive package is designed to cater to both students and their families, offering a host of diverse benefits beyond just transport.
The introduction of the nol Student Package aligns with RTA’s ambition to continuously innovate and improve its services for all community segments, particularly students and their parents. By offering discounted public transport fares and an enhanced card management system, RTA aims to simplify the daily commuting experience for students, making travel across the city more affordable and efficient.
This launch comes after the RTA signed an agreement with the International Student Identity Card Association during the Middle East and North Africa Transport Congress and Exhibition in February 2024. The collaboration emphasizes the RTA’s commitment to creating tailored solutions for different groups in the community and fostering a more accessible and efficient transport network.
The nol Student Package also supports the RTA’s broader vision for the future of mobility in Dubai, which is centered around sustainability, smart transport, and increasing public transport adoption. By encouraging students to use public transportation through discounted fares and added benefits, the RTA is working toward its goal of achieving a 25% share of trips on public transport by 2030, in line with Dubai’s strategic plan to reduce congestion, lower emissions, and create a more sustainable urban environment.
