Al Masaood and Nidec Leroy-Somer start one-stop service workshops for electric motors and alternators

Facility to be available in the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait designed to cater to specialist requirements for alternators, electric motors and drives

Regional power generation systems major Al Masaood Power Division has joined forces with Nidec Leroy-Somer (NLS), the global industrial alternators, electric motors and drives heavyweight, to establish a one-stop service workshop in the Gulf region for aftersales support to alternators from the NLS and Kato Engineering brands.

A statement from Al Masaood said the new agreement is “an expansion of the existing partnership of both parties, combining their efforts and expertise to address the growing demand for world-class aftersales support platforms within the regional electrification market”.

Rasso Bartenschlager, general manager, Al Masaood Power, said: “The specialised world of electrification, which includes alternators, electric motors and drives, demands a whole new aftersales service. Our support platform, which will be available in the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait, will be specifically designed to cater to the complex requirements of this expanding industry in the region. This latest partnership forms part of the shared commitment of both companies to continuously enhance their capabilities necessary for them to become the leaders in the future of the global and regional electrification markets.”

Under the partnership, Al Masaood Power and Nidec Leroy-Somer will jointly have progressive in-house service capabilities as a differentiating factor to offer superior services in diagnostics, repair and overhauls. These include spare parts and retrofitting of alternators on-site or in the repair and overhaul workshop.

Thierry Bennaim, VP, Services – Electric Power Generation (Europe & Asia), Nidec Leroy-Somer, said: “Nidec Leroy-Somer partnered with Al Masaood Power in this landmark initiative because of its regional proficiency in the field. With our active technical support, Al Masaood Power is fully capable of delivering enhanced aftersales support services for Leroy-Somer- and Kato-branded alternators in the Gulf region. Together, we will address the region’s needs through our technology-driven capabilities.”

Al Masaood Power Division is a key partner of NLC in the UAE and in GCC countries for alternators and electronic products, service operations and aftersales service associated with the brand. Both companies are also working towards helping realise the ambitious sustainable energy targets of GCC countries, said the statement.
