Al Naboodah unit delivers 750 school buses in UAE

A total of 750 new Ashok Leyland and Sunwin school buses have joined the fleets ferrying UAE children to and from their schools this month after Swaidan Trading partnered with operators such as Emirates Transport, Dubai Taxi Corporation, School Transport Services and private schools to supply the new vehicles.

The company, part the UAE-based family conglomerate, the Al Naboodah Group Enterprises (ANGE), said that all the new buses have been tailored to the highest international safety standards for school transport services mandated by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA), and the Department of Transport.

A large number of the 750 buses are from Indian manufacturer Ashok Leyland, the world’s fifth largest bus maker which also boasts production facilities in the UAE. The company recently launched its first rollover-compliant Oyster 33-seater school bus, meeting safety requirements set by authorities in the country.

The buses boast a range of seating options that can accommodate 25 to 83 students, and feature Euro 3-compliant turbocharged engines. Features include auto fire suppression systems, fire-retardant school bus seats with height adjusting retractable integrated seat belts, high-power air conditioning, fully pneumatic brakes with ABS, built-in CCTV systems, passenger door sensors to prevent accidental closure, LED destination boards, and roof hatches and emergency exits on all sides.

“Over the past 30 years, Al Naboodah Group Enterprises has been a trusted partner, providing government bodies with school buses that meet the highest safety and operational standards for UAE students. Quality customer service and safety remain a priority, reinforcing the Group’s commitment to best practices across all areas of our business,” said Buti Al Naboodah, deputy CEO, Commercial, for ANGE.

“Through Swaidan Trading, ANGE represents some of the world’s most trusted brands in the UAE such as Ashok Leyland and Sunwin. We go to great lengths in customising our school buses to meet safety standards while ensuring a superior level of comfort for students,” said ANGE’s Ajit Kumar, COO, commercial, transport and electrical.
