Careem users can now donate to Lebanese families via app

Careem partners with Emirates Red Crescent to provide relief packages to vulnerable families of Beirut, Lebanon affected by the recent explosion

Careem has partnered with the Emirates Red Crescent in UAE to introduce in-app donations to provide relief packages to vulnerable families of Beirut, Lebanon affected by the recent explosion.

This can be done easily by a few clicks on Careem’s Super App, said the firm in a statement, adding: “The explosion in Lebanon’s capital has caused devastation across the city and beyond, leaving thousands injured and over 300,000 people homeless. Careem’s office in Beirut was also part of the wreckage however, its colleagues and captains have remained unharmed. Since the tragedy struck, Careem has been providing free rides to people of Beirut wanting to donate blood at the hospitals.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have been impacted by the recent tragedy in Beirut, Careem UAE will do whatever in its capacity to support the affected ones by collection donation via the Super App.” said Gheed El Makkaoui, general manager, Careem UAE.

“Emirates Red Crescent has been fast to get on ground and provide assistance to the families in need and we wish to offer support in whatever way we can. I would urge everyone to donate wholeheartedly.”

Customers can donate easily by:

  1. Opening Careem Super App and tapping on ‘Reward Points’ at the top right
  2. In Careem Rewards, scroll down to ‘Donations’ and choose ‘Contribute USD 1 to Lebanon’
  3. Tap on ‘Donate’
