Emirates Transport works to improve down syndrome children’s bus access to education and recreation

Emirates Transport will provide buses for up to 12 annual activities, events, and trips organized by EDSA across the UAE

Emirates Transport (ET), a leading provider of transport, logistics, and MRO solutions in the UAE, has partnered with the Emirates Down Syndrome Association (EDSA) to support its programs and activities.

As part of the partnership, Emirates Transport will provide buses for up to 12 annual activities, events, and trips organized by EDSA across the UAE. Additionally, ET will offer a dedicated bus service four times a month in Dubai, ensuring seamless access to educational programs and recreational opportunities for people with Down syndrome.

Since its establishment in 2006, EDSA has supported over 686 beneficiaries of all ages and nationalities through its comprehensive programs.

These include services at the Development Center such as family counseling, early intervention, and therapeutic support, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy. Additionally, EDSA provides educational rehabilitation classes, vocational training programs, and employment initiatives. The association also implements sustainable projects like the Emirates Down Syndrome Hospitality Academy, the Photography Club, and the Sewing Workshop, alongside technology-driven initiatives such as the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Club and the Computer Club. Reliable transportation is crucial in enabling individuals with Down syndrome to participate fully in these initiatives, ensuring they benefit from the holistic programs offered by the association.

Peter Milner Joergensen, acting CEO & CFO at Emirates Transport, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “We are honored to support the Emirates Down Syndrome Association in their mission to empower individuals with Down syndrome and enrich their lives. This partnership aligns with our values of social responsibility and demonstrates the power of public-private collaboration in building a more inclusive and supportive society. By providing practical transportation solutions, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the Association’s efforts and foster opportunities for people with Down syndrome and their families.”

Through this partnership, Emirates Transport reaffirms its dedication to leveraging its resources to create a positive social impact while championing initiatives that reflect its commitment to community development and inclusion.

Dr. Manal Jaarour, Chairman of EDSA, expressed gratitude for the support: “The assistance from Emirates Transport will have a significant impact on the lives of the beneficiaries we serve. Access to reliable transportation ensures smoother participation in educational and recreational trips, which are essential for their development and well-being.”
