Farnek inks deal to help Middle East businesses step up fight against climate change

The FM firm will offer carbon management programmes to environmentally-conscious companies in the UAE and wider Middle East

Farnek has partnered with international corporate climate action solution provider, ClimatePartner. The agreement enables the facilities management (FM) company to provide consultancy and advisory on the full range of ClimatePartner’s life cycle carbon management services, to help Middle East businesses reduce the negative impact on the environment and to secure a sustainable future.

Using the ClimatePartner climate action methodology, Farnek’s consultants will be designing tailor-made solutions for Middle East businesses. It starts by defining corporate and product carbon footprints followed by the implementation of a climate action strategy and a carbon offsetting plan. The final act is to communicate that to corporate stakeholders, a statement from the FM firm said.

“Carbon offset projects help counteract the release of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, whilst simultaneously improving the livelihood of people around the world. By supporting carbon offset projects, companies can offset emissions that are currently unavoidable and therefore reduce their overall environmental impact. Carbon offsetting is crucial if we are to achieve the goals set by the Paris Agreement on climate change, as well as the UAE’s target to reduce carbon emissions by up to 25% by 2030,” said Markus Oberlin, CEO, Farnek.

As per the statement, ClimatePartner has been offering a variety of environmental solutions since 2006, ranging from carbon management strategies to enabling climate neutral products and services. They are also involved with numerous carbon offset projects and in addition, the company has also developed an IT solution for calculating carbon footprints and offsetting carbon emissions in order to make products and services carbon-neutral.

Commenting on their partnership with Farnek, Moritz Lehmkuhl, MD of ClimatePartner noted, “Farnek will have access to hundreds of internationally-recognised and certified carbon offset projects that are currently available within our portfolio or in cooperation with our global network. We decided to partner with Farnek, because the company is widely considered a market leader throughout the Middle East, providing innovative and turnkey sustainable solutions to a wide range of organisations and was instrumental in bringing some of the first carbon management solutions to the UAE.”
