Coronavirus: RTA extends suspension of public transport services during disinfection programme hours until April 5

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has extended the suspension of public transport services – metro, tram and marine – across the city until April 5. The move is part of the National Disinfection Programme that is being jointly undertaken by the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Ministry of Interior.

According to the RTA, public transit services – metro, tram and marine – will cease to operate from 8pm to 6am daily up until April 5. The services will operate during regular timings outside of the hours during which disinfection processes will take place.

“During these hours over this period, all public transport means in Dubai will cease services, and will operate on regular schedules outside those hours i.e. from 7am to 7pm,” the RTA said. Full operational timetables will be restored at the end of the National Disinfection Programme.

The RTA also said it was stopping all marine transport services including abras, ferry and water taxi, until April 30 as part of precautionery measures taken to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The statement notes that all public transport journeys will commence at 7am. The last journey on Dubai Metro’s Red Line will depart at 6.02pm from Rashidiya Station to UAE Exchange Station and at 6.02pm UAE Exchange Station to Rashidiya Station. On the Green Line, the last train will depart from Creek Station to Etisalat Station at 6.13pm, and the last train departs from Etisalat Station to Creek Station at 6.17pm, the RTA explained.

The last intercity bus service will depart at 4pm to Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, and 5pm to Ajman and Sharjah, the statement said.
