Gargash Auto says it plans to make its operation 100%carbon neutral by 2025.
The leading vehicle service centre said it aims to reach carbon neutrality by securing renewable electricity supply across all its present and future operations and, by balancing emissions through solar panel installation to achieve a net-zero footprint.
Its current rooftop installation spanning an area of 865m², has so far generated 350 Megawatt Hours (MWh) of clean energy and replaced over 227 metric tons of CO2 emissions from the atmosphere, which equates to the carbon emissions generated by 88 vehicles. Furthermore, the installation has saved AED 155,770 on electricity expenditure, said the firm.
With its new state-of-the-art facility launching next year by Q1, Gargash Auto will also have water recycling systems in place where water will be treated and reused, saving 15 to 20% of water consumption. A complete digital transformation is also a part of its sustainability agenda. Currently, the brand has managed to reduce paper consumption by 40% by digitising the customer experience.
“In keeping with the P’s of the triple bottom line – people, planet, and profit, we’re making good progress in reshaping our business for sustainable and equitable growth,” said Amir Pervaiz, general manager, Gargash Auto.
“We have always recognised the bigger role we need to play to drive a transformational change and make a conscious effort in taking responsibility for our planet. An investment in solar power is only the beginning.”
