Karwa Motors officially now a Daimler Buses Approved Builder and exporter after Busworld deal sign-off

Karwa Motors manufactures safe, durable, and efficient buses designed to meet regional and international standards at its 220,000sqm Duqm site

Karwa Motors LLC and Daimler Truck Middle East Africa have signed a strategic partnership agreement during Busworld Europe 2025 in Brussels that sees the Oman company designated as an official Daimler Buses Approved Builder.

The deal formalises a direct supply arrangement for Mercedes-Benz bus chassis for both domestic operations in Oman and export to international markets.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Ibrahim Al Balushi, Chief Executive Officer of Karwa Motors, and Michael Dietz, President and CEO of Daimler Truck Middle East Africa.

“This agreement represents an important milestone in the development of our collaboration with Karwa Motors,” said Marcus Watts, Vice President, Daimler Buses, Daimler Truck Middle East Africa. “It demonstrates the strength of industrial partnerships in the region and lays the foundation for a robust, export-oriented manufacturing base in Oman.”

Established in 2017 as a joint venture between Mowasalat Qatar, the state-owned transport company of Qatar, and the Oman Investment Authority, Karwa Motors has rapidly emerged as a cornerstone of Oman’s growing automotive manufacturing sector. The company recently completed the first phase of its production facility and began operations earlier this year.

Located in Duqm, one of Oman’s most strategically positioned industrial and logistics hubs, the Karwa Motors complex spans approximately 220,000 square metres. Its proximity to the Port of Duqm gives it direct connectivity to global shipping routes, facilitating efficient exports to markets across Asia, Africa, and beyond.

Karwa Motors manufactures safe, durable, and efficient buses designed to meet regional and international standards. Its operations combine global technology transfer programmes with local technical expertise, ensuring products are engineered for the specific operating conditions of the Middle East and Africa. The Duqm facility also offers comprehensive aftersales support, including spare parts availability and technical assistance, to ensure long-term reliability for customers.
