Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) has broken ground on its new dedicated Truck Plaza. It will take shape in the Industrial Zone and will occupy an area of more than 87,000sqm. The facility aims to cater to the needs of workers and visitors and will boast refueling and rest facilities.
According to a statement from Kizad, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports, the facility will include the first-of-its-kind dedicated Adnoc Distribution service station for trucks, comprising two main canopies and six diesel bay canopies. In addition, it will host a community centre with 275 shaded truck, bus and car parking spaces, as well as several retail outlets including a convenience store, restaurants, a car care service and a mosque.
The project was introduced to Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the Executive Council, chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office, and chairman of the Executive Committee, during his recent visit to Kizad to review the progress of developments at the Zone, said a statement from Kizad.
The ground breaking event was held in the presence of Ahmed Al Shamsi, the acting CEO of Adnoc Distribution and Samir Chaturvedi, CEO of Kizad. The statement noted that the project is a significant step forward in providing truck drivers and workers within Kizad with refueling and rest facilities.
