Magna Tyres launches new reach stacker tyres with improved technology

New member of company’s material handling tyre line-up offers longer life and better performance for pick-and-stack equipment

Magna Tyres has announced the launch of the 18.00-25 Magna M-Stacker (IND-4), the latest addition to its material handling tyre line-up.

A statement from the Magna Tyres Group said the new tyre is a more advanced model for use on reach stackers, empty container handlers and heavy-duty forklifts designed to improve the efficiency and productivity of cargo operations. The new Magna port tyre is available in two versions: M-Stacker and M-Stacker+, where the difference is in the tread depth of 55mm in the former and 70mm in the latter.

“The Magna M-Stacker has been developed starting from the already proven MB01 tread design, with the specific operational requirements of our customers. Through years of experience, comprehensive technical analysis by the R&D department and cooperation with leading ports and terminals worldwide, we have managed to design a tyre that meets the ever-increasing demands of pick-and-stack equipment,” added the statement from Magna.

The new tyre has been constructed with four main focus areas. These are enhanced tread design and groove area; even tyre wear; longer lifetime and endurance; and reliability, easy driving and better stability.

To enhance the tread and groove area, the new design incorporates extra lugs in the tread area. Featuring three additional lugs and optimised rubber compound reduces heat build-up, allowing the tyre to run cooler and also resist heat-induced and abrasive tread wear.

To enable the tread to wear evenly, a noticeably wider tread design combines with an adjustment in the shoulder height of the tyre. This, along with an optimal carcass design, distributes the contact pressure for a more even tread wear, increasing the tyre’s lifetime.

To increase the endurance and lifetime of the model, the tread design has been optimised and the tyre built out of an improved rubber compound. This prevents irregular wear caused by excessive lug movement and heat build-up. Magna Tyres states that the new tyre offers an improvement of up to 32% in operating hours, which is a big increase when translated into the total number of cycles in operation.

Increasing the tyre’s reliability and stability are its stronger sidewalls, which reduce deflection, improve protection against damage and provide a longer service life. In addition, the large-sized tread blocks provide the more stability when loading and unloading heavy containers.

Magna Tyres has informed that the 18.00-25 M-Stacker and 18.00-25 M-Stacker+ are now in production and are being offered to the market with immediate effect.
