Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced road infrastructure works in Al Khawaneej 2 area, as part of the 5-year plan endorsed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to construct internal roads in several residential areas of Dubai.
The construction of internal roads at Al Khawaneej 2 stems from RTAs commitment towards improving the infrastructure of Dubais residential areas, which covers road construction, street lighting and rainwater drainage systems, said Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the board of executive directors at RTA.
He explained that the new project covered the construction of internal roads network of about 77km, comprising 68km of single roads and 9km of collector dual carriageways. Associated infrastructure works, including rainwater drainage networks, enhancements to the electricity and water networks, and street lighting will also be carried out.
Al Tayer further said: RTA is also progressing in the construction of internal roads for the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Est project at Oud Al Mateena 1, which covers the construction of internal roads extending 7km and linking them with the surrounding roads network.
The project also includes street lights, roadside parking and pedestrian walkways, and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2019.
Al Tayer mentioned that 8km internal roads, car parks, pavements and street-lighting are being constructed for the Makan Community, Hatta, as well.
According to the official statement, RTA has also completed internal roads projects at Nad Al Sheba 4 and Hatta.
Works included the construction of 56km roads; 50km at Nad Al Sheba 4 (District 282) and 6km at Nad Al Sheba 1 (District 618). It also covered street lighting and rainwater drainage systems.
The RTA has also undertaken the initial phase of the road projects at Sama Al Jaddaf for 12km. Several junctions including two signalised ones and street lighting are being constructed.
The project aims to improve roads network in the area and link it with the surrounding roads such as Al Khail Road to the south and Sheikh Rashid Street to the north, besides ensuring smooth traffic flow in the area,” concluded Al Tayer.
