RTA launches fourth Qiyadi programme for Emirati engineers

Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the fourth edition of its two-year Qiyadi programme, which is designed to enrich the knowledge and diversify the skills of Emirati engineers, a senior official has said.

In a statement, Mansour Al Falasi, the director of Human Resources and Development at RTA’s Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, said that 20 Emirati staff engineers have been enrolled into the fourth cycle of the programme.

“About 20 Emirati staff engineers have been enrolled in the fourth cycle of Qiyadi, aimed at nurturing their knowledge and skills in order to ensure they remain compatible with their assigned tasks and career development plans,” he said.

He explained that the programme is built around three pillars, with the first being technical – which has been undertaken with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). It is designed to enable inductees to handle practical projects, and offer them exposure to technical experience and qualifying them as chartered engineers to attain permanent membership of ICE.

The second pillar is leadership and is run in conjunction with the Innovation Hub at Middlesex University London. This is because the Qiyadi programme is a leadership-oriented programme for future leaders within the RTA.

Finally, the third pillar is around the health aspect and is conducted in cooperation with Dr Dana Hamawi. It provides customised programmes for participants, educating them about the physical and health requirements that will allow them to handle work-related stress, Al Falasi said.

“Qiyadi reflects the RTA’s commitment to the directives of our government, aimed at grooming competent nationals who are capable of steering the future of Dubai, through engaging them in programmes contributing to the realisation of the RTA’s strategic objectives,” he concluded.
