Serco, a leading global service provider, has secured the renewal of the Middle East Logistics and Base Support Services (MELABS) contract, valued at approximately AED250 million.
The contract is set to commence on January 1, 2024, solidifying Serco’s role as a trusted industry partner for this critical support capability. The initial term of the contract is slated for three years.
Having initially secured the contract in 2011 to provide support for Australian Defence Force (ADF) operations in the Middle East Region, Serco will continue to provide a comprehensive range of services under the new contract. This includes 26 different service lines encompassing logistical, hospitality, estate operations and facilities maintenance, transportation, and asset hire services. The contract also includes an emergency structural and airfield rescue and firefighting response capability, added in 2020, for the ADF’s main operating base in the Middle East.
Graeme Flaws, Serco Middle East Operations Director for Citizen Services and Defence, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for the contract renewal, citing it as a testament to Serco’s commitment to delivering high-quality and cost-effective services. Flaws highlighted the company’s strong partnership with the ADF and the significance of supporting the ADF’s operational capabilities and national security interests.
Thomas, the spokesperson for Serco, emphasized the company’s pride in their long-standing partnership with the ADF. He noted that working collaboratively for over a decade in the Middle East to provide exceptional logistics and base services support reflects the ADF’s confidence in Serco.
Shannon Fleming, MELABS Contract Manager, expressed immense pride in Serco’s dedicated team in the Middle East. He commended their unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional services on a daily basis.
“We are proud to continue as a trusted industry partner to the ADF, ensuring our services align with the Australian Defence Force ADF’s mission to ensure the safety and effectiveness of their overseas operations.”
