dmg events, a leading international exhibitions company based in Dubai, UAE today announced that the first edition of The Big 5 Construct Egypt will be held under the patronage of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. H.E. Eng. Amr Nassar, Minister of Trade and Industry, will inaugurate the exhibition, which will run at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre (EIEC) on 18th – 21st of September 2018.

More than 200 companies from 24 countries will display the most innovative construction products at The Big 5 Construct Egypt this year. The show will offer 360-degree solutions for the Egyptian built environment, connecting industry experts, buyers and manufacturers from all over the world during a four day of networking and business opportunities.

At the show’s launch press conference, Josine Heijmans, Portfolio Director at dmg events, presented The Big 5 Construct Egypt’s benefits to the local economy and construction industry. The Big 5 Construct Egypt will promote the long term growth opportunities, and development of the Egyptian construction industry, along with creating new export partnerships for Egyptian companies.

“Beyond bringing the latest technologies and thousands of innovative construction solutions from leading brands from around the globe, the event will boost business development opportunities in Egypt. A dedicated B2B meeting program will help participants connect and build business relationships right there at the show,” Heijmans explained.

The Big 5 Construct Egypt is expected to drive FDI into the Egyptian construction sector. Some of the world’s most renowned names in construction will take part to the exhibition, which also hosts various international country pavilions, including Germany, Italy, UK, Spain, China, Greece, Turkey, and France among others.

The event also incorporates a mission to educate construction professionals and advance the industry by promoting best practices. “The Big 5 Construct Egypt will bring a wealth of knowledge to Egyptian architects, engineers, consultants, developers and contractors offering more than 40 CPD-certified educational sessions, completely free to attend,” said Heijmans.

Ahmed Salman, Architecture Section Head at Pinnacle Construction Projects (PCP), Dr. Dalia Sadany, Founding Chairman of Dalia Sadany Dezines, and Dr. Abdel Nasser Taha, Founder/President of FIABCI-Egypt, who will speak at The Big 5 Construct Egypt, participated in the press conference, offering a preview of their educational sessions.

The workshops will address a wide range of salient topics including new policies and reforms, future trends and technologies, BIM and project management, sustainability and technology, architecture and design, contract and facilities management, building envelope and special construction, as well as urban development.

The Big 5 Construct Egypt’s ‘Women in Construction’ seminar series will launch on September 18. Promoting the diverse experiences of some of Egypt’s pioneering female construction executives who play an integral role in changing the popular misconception of construction being a man’s job, the seminar is bound to be an eye opening and inspirational experience for all professionals in the industry.

Commenting on the event’s inaugural edition, Heijmans added: “The show’s technical, educational and learning features will bring industry professionals in close contact with the global market and its latest technologies and developments. The Big 5 Construct Egypt will offer both local and international companies a forum to pitch their latest products and services, exchange information and develop new business.

“We would like to thank H.E. Eng. Amr Nassar, Minister of Trade and Industry for leading the Ministry’s efforts to make this show a platform for the exchange of ideas and learning from across the world. We look forward to continued cooperation in our collective effort to drive the Egyptian economy forward.”

The Big 5 Construct Egypt comes at a time when the government’s economic reform plan is in full swing. Some of the plan’s objectives include developing sustainable transport infrastructure, reducing urban congestion, boosting the mobility of people and services, and supporting economic growth.

This calls for various new urban developments, generating an increased demand for related infrastructure such as transport facilities and utilities, which Egypt is focused on providing on a wide scale. Mega developments such as the New Capital City and New Alamein City, require international partners in success, the latest equipment and technology, and construction professionals who are up to date with the industry developments.

The major boost in demand makes The Big 5 Construct Egypt a vital gateway for the latest technologies, business development opportunities, driving FDI into the sector and providing professionals with the knowledge base and latest tools in the industry.

“Our decision to launch in Egypt, where our brand already has plenty of recognition, comes as a natural response to this rapidly expanding construction market. dmg events is committed to continue investing in the Egyptian market, with The Big 5 Construct Egypt 2018 being the first of a long series of yearly events to come,” concluded Heijmans.

The Big 5 has been a staple of Dubai’s exhibition calendar for almost 40 years. Over the last few years, the exhibition has been held in a number of countries beyond the UAE, including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Kenya, becoming the largest and most influential go-to exhibition for the construction sector in the Middle East.

The Big 5 Construct Egypt is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and supported by the Egyptian Federation for Construction and Building Contractors (EFCBC) and the African Federation for Construction Contractors Associations (AFCCA). Some of the largest industry players have partnered up with the event. These include including the Egyptian Chamber of Building Material, Arab Water Council, the German Arab Chamber of Industry & Commerce, International Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Kandil Steel (Bronze Sponsor), Orascom Group (CPD Sponsor), Sphinx Glass, Ezzsteel, Al Sherif Group, Al Bawani Company.
