UAE’s Al-Futtaim Motors appoints new senior MD

The UAE’s Al-Futtaim Motors, the dealer of Toyota, Lexus, Hino and Toyota Material Handling Equipment, has appointed Bertrand Thiebaut as senior managing director.

“This is a great new adventure for me as I start a new journey in a new country that is blessed with great leadership,” Thiebaut said.

“Al-Futtaim Motors’ reputation precedes it, having been at the core of the automotive industry in the UAE for more than six decades. I’m extremely excited to have joined at a time when the company is consistently growing and shaping the future of mobility in the UAE.”

Prior to joining Al-Futtaim Motors, Thiebaut had a long career with some of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers in America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Africa. His latest role was with CFAO, a multinational company engaged in the sale of manufactured goods, pharmaceutical products and automobiles, where he held the position of Automotive Chief Executive Officer for the past six years and was responsible for leading the business across multiple countries.

Thiebaut, 50, hails from France and graduated from the European Business School in Paris, France.

In another recent statement, Al-Futtaim Motors announced the launch of the fourth-generation Toyota Prius, first revealed at the Dubai International Motor Show last year. The Prius was the world’s first mass-produced hybrid vehicle (petrol-electric) when initially launched in 1997, and has since sold over 3.5 million cars around the globe.
