Western Motors and EDC to promote safe off-roading; free training offered

Partnership 'aligns with both entities’ endeavours' to encourage vehicle and passenger safety

Jeep’s Abu Dhabi-based distributor Western Motors and Emirates Driving Company (EDC) are to work jointly to promote safe off-road driving and “encourage Jeepers to take their vehicles out into the UAE’s adventurous sand dunes and utilize their 4×4’s to their full potential.”

The partnership aligns with both entities’ endeavors to encourage vehicle and passenger safety, said the companies in a statement.

As part of newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), EDC’s recently developed ‘Desert Driving’ training course will be offered free of charge to new Jeep customers purchasing 2019 Wranglers from Western Motors.

The course will provide in-depth training on each feature of the vehicle “allowing owners to maximise on their new vehicles’ capabilities”.

The companies explained: “Designed to acquaint new Jeep customers with the thrill-seeking culture of Western Motors, the course will be led by EDC instructors, who will carry out the training on a Jeep Wrangler in Al Wathba, Baniyas. The course will cover several modules, including: basic mechanical knowledge of a modern Jeep Wrangler, topography of the desert, proven techniques to stay safe, off-road challenges and how to overcome them. Customers who successfully complete the course will earn an off-road certificate from EDC.”

“Through this strategic partnership, we are contributing to the overall safety of everyone interested to dune-drive in the desert,” said Khaled Al Mansouri, CEO, EDC. “Our aim is to ensure car owners are fully aware of safety procedures, any required precautions for drivers or passengers; in addition to, being mindful of the environment.”

Monzer Al Rifai, General Manager of Western Motors, added: “We are delighted to be partners with EDC and look forward to working together in the coming months as we strive to achieve our shared ambitions.

“Showcasing our mutual values of promoting socially responsible activities, our agreement with EDC is instrumental in the promotion of safe off-road driving, while endorsing new talents to emerge in Abu Dhabi.”

Mohammad Mahmoud, sales manager, Western Motors, described Western Motors as a keen supporter of sports-oriented community activities.

“Jeep Wranglers are equipped with unique features that present off-road enthusiasts with a great opportunity to challenge themselves in the sand dunes and utilize their 4x4s to their full potential,” he said.
