Work on Aviation City project progressing according to schedule

Work on the Aviation City project is progressing according to schedule, it has been announced, following a visit to the site by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

Developed as a joint venture between Dubai Airports Company and Dubai World Central on a 154sqkm area in Dubai South, near the Expo 2020 site, the Aviation City project is aimed at providing a base for the regional and international civil aviation industry, while also placing the UAE on the global list of companies with vital technological industries.

During the project tour, Sheikh Mohammed – who visited the site along with other senior officials and engineers from Dubai World Central – lauded the joint working team and highlighted the role of the aviation industry as a major driver of economic growth and strengthening of the national economy.

He also visited the City’s private aviation building – a first-of-its-kind structure that is equipped to provide comfort and entertainment to passengers of private airplanes. This was then followed by an inspection of the passenger terminal for those travelling through the Al Maktoum International Airport, and a visit to a duty-free market that sells products from leading international brands.

The joint working team from Dubai Airports Company and Dubai World Central is led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group and Chairman of the Dubai Airports Company.
