Video: Nissan looks back at its EV journey

In honour of World EV Day, Nissan posts unique, comic-book-style video release on its official social media channels

Nissan has unveiled a captivating look at its groundbreaking electric vehicles, highlighting seven decades of innovation in sustainable mobility. Through a unique, comic-book-style video release on its official social media channels, Nissan reaffirms its role as a pioneer in the electric vehicle (EV) realm, showcasing electric concepts and vehicles tailored to diverse lifestyles and scenarios.

With a history of at the time daring ventures, Nissan has consistently demonstrated the immense potential of sustainable mobility. This journey began with the introduction of the Tama in 1947 and reached a milestone with the launch of the LEAF in 2010, marking the world’s first mass-market EV.

These models laid the foundation for the flagship all-electric Ariya, which made its debut at Expo 2020 Dubai, symbolising the future of mobility for the Japanese brand.

This year’s celebration of World EV Day coincides with Nissan’s recent achievement of surpassing one million EVs sold globally, adding an extra layer of significance as the brand prepares to commemorate its 90th anniversary later this year.

The video presentation spotlights seven innovative Nissan models:

1) LEAF NISMO RC: Introduced in 2011, the LEAF NISMO RC showcased the potential and capabilities of all-electric motorsport vehicles. A testament to Nissan’s commitment to sustainability on the racetrack, it arrived a decade ahead of the brand’s Formula E entry.

2) e-NV200 WORKSPACE: In 2016, Nissan envisioned the future of remote work with the e-NV200 WORKSPACE, the world’s first all-electric mobile office. Featuring essential amenities like a fold-out desk, wireless internet, and even a coffee machine, this electric van demonstrated the ability to work on the go with its swift charging capabilities.

3) e-NV200 Ice Cream Van: Designed for World Clean Air Day in 2019, this concept reimagined the traditional ice cream van, replacing its internal combustion engine with wind and solar energies. An eco-friendly approach was taken from sky to scoop, providing a sustainable alternative to conventional ice cream vans.

4) RE-LEAF: Launched in 2020, the RE-LEAF was designed for disaster relief efforts. With adaptations such as debris-navigating capabilities and weatherproof charging sockets, this model could come to the aid of communities affected by natural disasters and extreme weather events.

5) Land Glider: Seeking to redefine urban driving, the Nissan Land Glider showcased how effortless navigating busy city streets could be. With its distinctive cocoon-like structure and four-wheel stability, this bold model offered a glimpse into the future of EVs in bustling metropolises.

6) e-NV200 Winter Camper: Tailored for winter adventurers, this model featured an integrated kitchen, fridge, and folding bed. Equipped with insulated glass and multiple tuning upgrades for treacherous road conditions, the Winter Camper empowered EV enthusiasts to embark on their winter escapades without vehicle-related worries.

7) Ariya e-4ORCE: Nissan’s Pole to Pole Expedition Ariya e-4ORCE is on a mission to explore uncharted territories, dispelling misconceptions about the capabilities of EVs. This modified Ariya is designed to withstand diverse terrains and conditions, proving the true potential of electric mobility by journeying from Pole to Pole.
