Al-Futtaim EVolution Mobility has joined the UAE’s green mobility revolution by unveiling an advanced fleet of BYD electric commercial vehicles at a high-profile launch event in Dubai.
Al-Futtaim EVolution Mobility is a partnership between Al-Futtaim Industrial Equipment and BYD, arguably the world’s leading electric mobility company. The formation of the new energy-focused partnership and the electric vehicles themselves, mark a significant leap forward in the commercial transport landscape of the UAE market.
The event, attended by industry leaders, government representatives, and VIP guests, introduced four state-of-the-art BYD electric commercial vehicles designed to redefine urban logistics, freight, and sustainable public transport.
The ETM6 Electric Truck is a dynamic urban logistics solution with a 126 kWh battery, ensuring high performance for city operations. The EV Light Truck T5 is a compact and agile delivery vehicle powered by a 132 kWh battery, designed for efficient and eco-friendly urban deliveries. The EV Medium Truck ETH8 is a robust heavy-duty workhorse with a 255 kWh battery, capable of handling the most demanding transport tasks. The B12 Electric Bus is a revolutionary public transport solution with a 425 kWh battery, delivering an impressive range of 550 km on a single charge.
With ultra-fast charging capabilities and zero tailpipe emissions, these vehicles present businesses with a sustainable, cost-efficient alternative to traditional diesel fleets, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing operational efficiency, the gathered media and guests were told during the event.
The launch is not just about bringing electric vehicles to the UAE—it’s about leading the charge in reshaping commercial mobility and driving forward the UAE’s green revolution, said Ramez Hamdan, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Industrial Equipment.
“With the introduction of these electric vehicles, we’re not simply launching a new fleet—we’re accelerating the future of green mobility solutions in the UAE,” said Hamdan, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Industrial Equipment. “The arrival of BYD’s electric trucks and buses is a key moment in the transformation of the commercial transport sector, enabling businesses to reduce their carbon footprint while enhancing operational performance.”
“BYD’s fully electric trucks and buses are more than just advanced technology—they are catalysts for a shift in the transport landscape. These vehicles will help businesses reduce their carbon footprint while championing the UAE’s vision for a sustainable future,” Hamdan added.
BYD’s Global Leadership in EV Sales
Speaking during the event, Stephen White, Truck and Fleet’s founding editor, highlighted BYD’s global success in the electric commercial vehicle market. BYD sold 4.27 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) in 2024, marking a 41% year-on-year growth. Over 7,000 electric trucks and 5,000 electric buses have been sold across Europe, the U.S., and Southeast Asia. In 2025, BYD anticipates 150% growth in commercial EV sales, noted White.
HE also emphasised the economic and environmental advantages of electric commercial vehicles.
“Electric trucks and buses are transforming logistics and public transport — offering cleaner, quieter, and more efficient solutions. Their total cost of ownership (TCO) benefits include reduced energy and maintenance costs, leading to greater profitability through efficiency. Furthermore, electric trucks and buses emit only 2% of the CO2 compared to their diesel counterparts, significantly lowering environmental impact.”
Revolutionary BYD Battery Technology
The new fleet features BYD’s cutting-edge Blade Battery Technology, ensuring industry-leading safety, performance, and ultra-fast charging capabilities. The BYD T5 Light-Duty Truck comes equipped with a 132 kWh battery, providing a range of more than 300 km. The BYD ETH8 Medium-Duty Truck, designed for heavy-duty operations, has a payload capacity of 10 tons and a range of 250 km. The BYD City eBus B12 delivers an industry-leading 500 km range on a single charge, making it an ideal solution for sustainable public transport.
