ION launches UAE’s first unified EV charging platform

ION plans to extend its app and CPMS across the wider GCC as part of its mission to accelerate regional EV adoption

ION, the sustainable mobility venture by BEEAH and Crescent Enterprises, has launched what it calls the region’s first fully integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging ecosystem. The new platform, comprising the ION App and a Charge Point Management System (CPMS), is designed to connect drivers, businesses, and charging station operators under one seamless digital network.

Unveiled at the Evolve Future Mobility Show at Expo Centre Sharjah, the platform simplifies EV charging for users while giving operators and authorities a unified tool to manage and expand their charging infrastructure.

The system will underpin a new nationwide network of over 100 ultra-fast chargers, being deployed by ION in partnership with the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA). Each charger will offer safe, high-speed DC charging of up to 400kW, allowing compatible vehicles to reach a full charge in as little as 20 minutes.

ION’s launch addresses one of the GCC’s most persistent challenges in EV adoption: fragmented charging access. Through a single app, users can now locate available chargers, plug in, monitor charging sessions in real time, and pay automatically. Operators, fleet managers, and government stakeholders, meanwhile, gain network performance insights, remote management tools, and data to guide expansion.

Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO and Vice Chairman of BEEAH, described the launch as “a milestone moment” for regional electrification.

“Complementing its EV charging infrastructure, ION has created a platform that will encourage more businesses to enter the market of providing EV charging infrastructure while empowering end users with seamless access to EV chargers,” he said.

Tushar Singhvi, Deputy CEO and Head of Investments at Crescent Enterprises, added that the GCC is evolving from “a hub for traditional energy to becoming recognised as a catalyst for smart, sustainable mobility.”

“Through ION, we are proud to support this shift by building the infrastructure and platforms that make electrification practical, scalable, and accessible,” Singhvi said.

“This launch marks an important step toward regional leadership in clean transport and the creation of long-term value for users, operators, and partners alike.”

Supporting Sharjah’s net-zero goals

ION’s partnership with SRTA is part of Sharjah’s drive to expand its EV ecosystem and support national climate targets. The rollout will see ultra-fast chargers installed across highways, residential districts, and public facilities. The collaboration reflects Sharjah’s wider strategy to encourage private-sector innovation in achieving net-zero goals.

Amir Melad, CEO of ION, said the platform embodies the company’s vision for “smarter, more sustainable cities.”

“With this unified, intelligent platform, our goal is to make EV adoption seamless for users and lucrative for businesses, starting right here in the UAE,” he said.

At the Evolve Future Mobility Show, ION offered visitors a live demonstration of its technology—allowing users to simulate the full charging experience from locating a charger to automated payment.

Beyond the UAE, ION plans to extend its app and CPMS across the wider GCC as part of its mission to accelerate regional EV adoption. The company has already delivered key milestones, including the first ultra-fast EV charger on Yas Island and sustainable electric ride-hailing services in Masdar City.

Founded in 2018 as a joint venture between BEEAH and Crescent Enterprises, ION continues to position itself as a key player in building the digital and physical infrastructure for sustainable mobility in the Middle East.

The ION App is now available to download on the App Store and Google Play for UAE users.
