The UAE has opened drive-through screening centres in Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, Fujairah, and Ras Al Kahimah in line with the country’s efforts to contain the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
In Sharjah, HH Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, chairman of the Sharjah Ruler’s Office opened the drive-through screening centre for COVID-19 near Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club, in the presence of Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, commander-in-chief of the Sharjah Police.
The centre is open from 10am to 6pm, Sunday to Thursday, and can accommodate approximately 500 people per day. It will take between three to five days to obtain the results and if they are positive authorities will communicate with the people to take necessary actions.
It can accommodate 500 people daily, and contains four entrances to conduct examinations; registration point is located at the entrance to the centre while the testing will be conducted at the second checkpoint. The centre will prioritise people with symptoms, senior citizens, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases, people of determination, and people who came in contact with confirmed cases.
Meanwhile, HH Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain initiated the screening centre located in Umm Al Quwain’s Al-Bait-Motwahid Hall which will be run by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA).
In Ajman, HH Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the Crown Prince of Ajman and the chairman of the Ajman Executive Council opened the drive-through coronavirus examination centre for community members.
In Fujairah, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the Crown Prince of Ajman inaugurated the Emirate’s COVID-19 screening centre in Rumailah Square. He expressed his appreciation for the huge effort made to open the screening centre in Fujairah in such a short period of time and his admiration and confidence in the frontline staff ensuring the health and safety of the public in the Emirate, WAM reported.
In Ras Al Khaimah, HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, in the presence of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, praised the commitment of the community during the official opening of the COVID-19 screening centre. It is located next to the Eid prayer ground in Khuzam.
Tests are free of charge to those who meet certain criteria, which is confirmed in advance over the phone at all centres.
