Goodyear and Peugeot show a new side of intelligent mobility with the Peugeot Polygon concept car

The Polygon concept is built around three dynamic modes, Urban, Player and Explorer, each designed to adapt to different driving environments and behaviours

Goodyear and Peugeot have unveiled their bold vision for the future of intelligent mobility with the debut of the Peugeot Polygon concept car.

The partnering pioneers said the experimental platform places smart tyre technology at the core of vehicle intelligence for the first time.

The collaboration introduces Goodyear SightLine, a real-time intelligent tire monitoring suite, fully integrated into the vehicle cockpit and paired with three bespoke Goodyear tires matched to the car’s multiple configurations.

The Polygon concept is built around three dynamic modes—Urban, Player and Explorer—each designed to adapt to different driving environments and behaviours. Goodyear developed a dedicated tyre for each mode, aligning performance, traction and design with the vehicle’s purpose and personality.

Ben Glesener, Senior Technology Director, Product Development, Consumer EMEA at Goodyear, said the partnership represents far more than a technical collaboration.

“SightLine represents more than technology—it’s a vision for connected mobility. By partnering with Peugeot, we are envisioning an ecosystem where tires become active contributors to vehicle intelligence, shaping a smarter future.”

Goodyear’s SightLine technology takes a significant step forward in the Polygon project, providing live data on tire condition, grip, temperature, wear levels and road surface conditions, information traditionally invisible to the driver.

For the first time, these insights are displayed directly on the heads-up display in the cockpit, ensuring the driver receives clear, real-time feedback. SightLine can also be fully integrated into the vehicle’s other advanced systems, enabling the car to automatically mitigate scenarios that today rely heavily on driver judgement.

Two major functions illustrate the technology’s intelligence:

  • Tire Maintenance: Embedded wear-monitoring algorithms allow the car to adapt performance settings as tires age, maintaining consistent handling and safety.

  • Safe Driving: SightLine can predict and detect aquaplaning risks, enabling vehicle control systems to respond instantaneously and preserve stability in challenging conditions.

The system also connects with Peugeot’s Drive-by-Wire technology, creating a loop where car and tire continuously communicate for optimised control.

Three Bespoke Goodyear Tires for a Three-Mode Concept

To complement the Polygon’s adaptable personality, Goodyear engineered three distinct tires—each built to match the character and requirements of Urban, Player and Explorer modes.

  • Urban & Player Tires: Both feature the iconic Eagle F1 tread pattern, celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2025. The design symbolises Goodyear’s high-performance heritage and brings a motorsport-inspired edge to daily and dynamic driving.

  • Explorer Tire: A rugged design inspired by the legendary Goodyear Wrangler, built for traction and capability across off-road terrain.

Goodyear says the tire sidewalls were crafted using new colouring and laser-etching techniques to express the Polygon’s design ethos. The aesthetics serve not only as visual storytelling but also demonstrate the brand’s ability to merge craftsmanship, premium manufacturing and engineering precision into tailored tire solutions.

Although showcased in a concept environment, Goodyear emphasises that SightLine is not a futuristic experiment. The system is already available in several global markets and is designed to scale into mass-market applications as the industry pivots toward connected, software-centric vehicles.
