Aptera to reveal first fully-functional Solar EV next week

California-based mobility manufacturer closes in on near-final production phase of its highly anticipated three-wheeled solar electric vehicle (SEV)

Aptera Motors has confirmed it will unveil its first fully complete solar electric validation vehicle in a live YouTube broadcast scheduled for 3:00 PM Pacific Time on 27 June 2025.

The announcement marks a major milestone for the California-based mobility innovator, as it transitions from prototyping to the near-final production phase of its highly anticipated three-wheeled solar electric vehicle (SEV). With almost 50,000 reservations already placed, the upcoming reveal will offer the first look at the fully integrated model Aptera intends to bring to market.

“This is the moment we’ve been building toward,” said Chris Anthony, Co-CEO of Aptera. “This vehicle is built to the design we plan to produce at scale and deliver to our eager reservation holders.”

For the first time, Aptera will showcase a vehicle fitted with all the systems expected by future owners, including climate control, an advanced vision system, infotainment, and full solar integration. It represents a unified version of the SEV that Aptera plans to assemble for customers at scale.

Co-CEO Steve Fambro underlined the company’s vertical integration approach, noting: “With few exceptions, virtually every circuit, every bit of software and firmware—is designed entirely in-house. From the vehicle computers and battery management system to the solar panels and charge controller, it’s all part of Aptera’s own tightly integrated hardware and software stack. Every element works in concert to achieve unparalleled energy efficiency. It’s a system that’s not only robust and elegant, but purpose-built to support our radically efficient architecture.”

Aptera is currently building multiple validation vehicles, each playing a crucial role in the brand’s ongoing test programme. While some refinements are expected, these models are said to closely resemble the final vehicles that will be delivered to customers.

Following the online debut, the company plans to embark on a cross-country road trip with the solar EV later this summer, showcasing its solar-charging capability and collecting real-world performance data as part of its final validation efforts.
