Automechanika Dubai Awards 2025 Honour Ret. Major General Mohammed Alzafeen Almuhairi with pecial Recognition Award

Dubai Police's Major General Almuhairi has played a pivotal role in designing and advancing the nation’s road-safety systems

The milestone fifth edition of the Automechanika Dubai Awards has concluded with a celebration of the region’s most influential companies, rising talent, innovators and industry leaders across 15 award categories.

Held this week at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the ceremony highlighted excellence across the global automotive aftermarket while announcing a major development for the show’s future: Automechanika Dubai will relocate to the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City for its 2026 edition, taking place from 10–12 November.

The ceremony’s most distinguished honour — the Special Recognition Award — was presented to Retired Major General Mohammed Alzafeen Almuhairi, acknowledging his extraordinary contributions to road safety, accident reconstruction and traffic engineering in the UAE.

A Lifetime Shaping Road Safety in the UAE

With more than 38 years of service in Dubai Police, Major General Almuhairi has played a pivotal role in designing and advancing the nation’s road-safety systems.

His work includes:
• Establishing the region’s first Traffic Prediction Department, enabling proactive traffic-risk forecasting
• Leading strategies that contributed to a 220% reduction in road fatalities during his tenure
• Introducing advanced accident-analysis systems that have influenced national and regional policy
• Serving in senior leadership roles such as Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations, Chairman of the UAE Federal Traffic Council, Director of the General Department of Traffic, and Director of Accident Reconstruction & Traffic Engineering

Widely regarded as one of the UAE’s foremost traffic and highway engineering experts, Almuhairi’s leadership continues to shape safety frameworks, enforcement strategies and public-safety initiatives across the country.

Commenting on the award, Tommy Le, Show Manager of Automechanika Dubai, said: “The Special Recognition Award is reserved for individuals whose influence extends far beyond their day-to-day role, and this year’s recipient exemplifies that impact. Major General Almuhairi’s vision, leadership and unwavering commitment have helped shape the growth and maturity of the industry, inspiring collaboration and elevating safety across the mobility ecosystem.”0

Reflecting on the collective achievements, Tommy Le concluded: “This year’s winners reflect the innovation, dedication and forward-thinking spirit driving the global automotive aftermarket.
