The Joint Committee for Safety and Security at Fuel Stations has officially launched the Winter National Awareness Campaign for Safety and Security at Fuel Stations, coinciding with the holiday and camping season. Running from 23rd December 2024 to 23rd January 2025, the campaign aims to educate the public on essential safety practices while refuelling at both land and marine fuel stations.
For land fuel stations, the campaign highlights critical safety guidelines, including:
- Refraining from smoking in or around fuel stations.
- Ensuring children remain safely inside the vehicle.
- Following proper procedures when refuelling motorcycles to prevent leaks or potential fires.
For marine stations, safety rules focus on:
- Turning off boat or jet ski engines during refuelling.
- Properly securing vessels to avoid accidents.
Additionally, the campaign raises awareness about the risks associated with flammable materials and emphasises the importance of following safety instructions provided by fuel station staff.
This nationwide initiative is organised by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in collaboration with the General Directorate of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior and leading petroleum companies, including ENOC, ADNOC, and Emarat.
By promoting safe refuelling practices, the campaign seeks to ensure public safety and enhance awareness during one of the busiest travel and outdoor seasons of the year.
