Al-Bahar through their sister company, Oasis Trading and Equipment Co. L.L.C., have opened their newest branch in the region in the Omani industrial city of Sohar, north of the capital Muscat. The new branch is an expansion of Oasis network in Oman, which now encompasses four locations in the Sultanate – Muscat, Salalah, Nizwa and now Sohar.
According to Oasis, the inauguration of the new branch was a grand affair with several dignitaries and officials attending the ceremony. Held under the patronage and in the presence of Salim Al Maqbali, deputy manager, Royal Court/Sohar Development Office, and Khalid Al Alwai, assets manager, Sohar Port & Free Zone, the ceremony took place late last year. The ribbon-cutting was followed by a dinner reception.
Commenting on the new branch opening, Bashar Al Barghouthi, general manager, Oasis Trading and Equipment, noted: Oman being a very crucial market for us, we at Oasis Trading are very pleased to have expanded our network here. We intend to reaffirm our commitment to assuring customer value.
The management vision was to build the new branch to meet growing business in the Sohar area. Currently we have several construction and crusher customers who have shown continuous growth in their businesses, along with new factories and industrial application customers based at the Sohar port, which is being expanded. They will all benefit from this branch. We also intend to support our customers in mining who needed on-site support. Primarily, the target segments for this branch are the crushers, port services, road and heavy construction sectors, as well as factories, industrial and material handling applications.
He added that the branch would offer the entire Caterpillar portfolio as well as other brands Oasis represents, such as SEM, Konecranes and UniCarriers
According to Oasis, the new 10,000 sqm branch, located on University Street next to Sohar University, would offer the complete line-up of services, including dedicated service centres and an exclusive parts inventory.
For service we have a new workshop with 16 bays to accommodate customers repair requirements, supported by an adequately large team of technicians to support maintenance and repair operations. We are keeping fast-moving assets in stock at the branch, plus frequently needed spare parts, covering the existing fleet for Sohar customers as well as spare parts for newly-sold equipment. There is a bigger spare parts warehouse, which has three floors and is stocked according to current and future demand. Another feature of the new branch is its training rooms and facilities, which will enable us to host training seminars going forward, added Al Barghouthi.
Also present at the inauguration ceremony were representatives from 85 of Oasiss major customers in the region as well as many personnel from Oasis. The event gave all attendees a platform to check out for themselves the wide range of Cat machines, generators and parts on display. For a glimpse of Oasis service capabilities, the guests were given a walk-through of the workshop and parts warehouse at the new facility.
An exclusive promotional offer accompanied the opening with many customers capitalising on the opportunity to discuss their business concerns and challenges with the company representatives and find solutions. The company expects to see high demand in Sohar for wheel loaders, excavators, dump trucks and material handling models.
Qais Alkurdi, Sohar branch supervisor, Oasis, said: We see the opening of this new branch in Sohar as an excellent opportunity to extend our local presence, contributing continuously to the various industries we serve.
