Leasys and Stellantis expand circular economy strategy with long-term rental initiative

Vehicles reaching the end of their long-term rental contracts are reconditioned and prepared for a second lifecycle

Leasys, a mobility company under Stellantis and Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility, says it is expanding its commitment to sustainability and the circular economy through a strategic initiative focused on re-rental of returned vehicles.

As part of this initiative, vehicles reaching the end of their long-term rental contracts are reconditioned and prepared for a second lifecycle at the SUSTAINera Circular Economy Hub in Mirafiori, Turin. This process, which handles an average of 1,500 vehicles per year, is a key step in reducing waste and extending vehicle lifespan.

The reconditioning process is carried out in a 5,000-square-meter facility, where vehicles undergo a comprehensive inspection, followed by mechanical and bodywork refurbishments. To ensure long-term performance and reliability, these vehicles receive additional periodic checks at Stellantis-authorized workshops before being reintroduced into the rental market.

This collaboration between Leasys and Stellantis SUSTAINera aligns with their shared vision of promoting sustainable mobility by maximizing vehicle usage, reducing resource consumption, and minimizing supply chain waste. The Leasys RE-USE re-rental solution, introduced in 2023, has already attracted more than 1,500 customers in Italy, offering a cost-effective and high-quality alternative in the long-term rental market.

We are very proud of the results that the initiative is achieving. Leasys confirms itself as a leading player in the commitment to the circular economy, distinguishing itself with concrete projects characterized by constant attention to customer needs. This synergy with Stellantis fully aligns with the philosophy of both our companies, for more sustainable and accessible mobility for all,” said Andrea Pertica, General Manager of Leasys Italy.

Francesco Monaco, Director of SUSTAINera Europe, emphasized Stellantis’ role in driving circular economy principles: This initiative with Leasys underscores Stellantis’ leading role in reconditioning and the value of the circular economy model. With SUSTAINera, we actively contribute to expanding the lifespan of parts and vehicles, without compromises on quality as all the offer guarantees the Stellantis performance specifications.

“Together with Leasys, we continue our path in line with the Group’s decarbonization strategy and the principles of the circular economy.”

With the demand for sustainable mobility solutions growing, Leasys and Stellantis are setting a benchmark for the future of vehicle rental, demonstrating that circular economy strategies can deliver both environmental benefits and cost-effective mobility solutions.
