Daimler AG appoints new head for Middle East and Levant

Germany’s Daimler AG has appointed Mark De Haes to take over as president and CEO of Daimler Middle East and Levant (DMEL).

In his new role, De Haes will lead the Middle East and Levant regions for the automotive brand, overseeing sales and service operations in 13 countries. He will be taking over from Mike Belk, the former president and chief executive of DMEL.

De Haes, a Belgian national, joined Daimler AG in 1988 as a marketing analyst, and has worked in several senior management positions across different divisions and countries in Europe ever since. His most recent appointment was as CEO of Mercedes-Benz Belgium Luxembourg, a position he held since 2006.

“We are delighted to welcome Mark De Haes as the new president and CEO of DMEL and have every confidence that his contribution will not only support the continued growth of the company, but also strengthen the overall performance of the business,” said Till Conrad of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

“On this occasion, we would also like to thank Mike Belk for his valuable leadership of DMEL over the last five years, and we wish him success in his new role as Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Trucks in the United Kingdom.”
