Ankai latest Chinese brand to enter UAE market

The launch features four specialised Ankai bus models, including an all-electric bus for government entities and eco-conscious businesses

Charabanc Transportation has officially launched “Ankai,” the esteemed Chinese bus brand from Anhui Ankai Automobile Company Limited, in the UAE.

The launch features four specialised Ankai bus models tailored for the UAE market. These include a luxury coach designed to elevate the travel experience for tourists with premium comfort and amenities. An all-electric bus provides a sustainable mobility solution, making it ideal for government entities and eco-conscious businesses. This electric model boasts an impressive 350 km driving range and features an eControl system that reduces energy consumption by over 10%.

The range also includes a school bus, equipped with advanced safety systems to ensure reliable and secure transportation for children, and a staff bus, optimised for comfort and efficiency in daily commuting. Each model is built to the highest global safety standards, incorporating rollover protection, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) systems.

Holden Zhang, Vice General Manager of Ankai Group and General Manager of Ankai International, highlighted the brand’s legacy of over 50 years in the electric and commercial bus industry: “The UAE is home to a dynamic market with exceptional growth opportunities for global brands like ours. Through this launch, we hope to capitalise on the nation’s thriving transportation sector and consolidate our position in the regional market, backed by the support of our partner Charabanc Transportation. This initiative also demonstrates our unwavering commitment to supporting the UAE’s green mobility goals by offering eco-friendly and safe transportation solutions for a greener tomorrow.”

Ankai buses are engineered with monocoque body technology, providing six times greater structural integrity than conventional buses while maintaining a lightweight frame for improved efficiency. These advanced features align seamlessly with the UAE’s ambitions for smart and sustainable mobility.

Torsten Bauerheim, General Manager of Charabanc Transportation, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Ankai’s portfolio includes luxury buses that redefine comfort, all-electric buses that reflect our shared commitment to sustainability and innovation, school buses designed with the highest standards of safety and reliability for our children, and staff buses tailored for efficiency and convenience in everyday commuting; all aimed at addressing the diverse transportation needs of the UAE.”

Charabanc Transportation, a newly established company, aims to position itself as a leader in the UAE’s transportation sector. The company plans to build strategic partnerships with government and private entities while delivering customized solutions across tourism, education, and corporate sectors. This launch is a key step in Charabanc’s broader strategy to lead the green mobility transformation and contribute significantly to the UAE’s vision for sustainable growth and innovation.
