Leading EV-charging firm Loop Global installs itself into Abu Dhabi

Loop, headquartered in California, operates one of the largest charging networks in the United States, with over 6,500 chargers currently in operation

Loop Global Inc., a prominent U.S.-based provider of turnkey EV charging solutions, has announced the opening of its regional office in Abu Dhabi. This new office will not only showcase Loop’s cutting-edge charging technology but also serve as a central hub for sales and distribution across the broader Middle East region.

“Our aim is to be the UAE’s No. 1 EV charging provider and to use Abu Dhabi as a base for our regional expansion,” said Olga Shevorenkova, CEO of Loop. “We will look to recruit and hire locally as well as explore opportunities to bring manufacturing and R&D activities to Abu Dhabi, which would allow it to become an integrated center of excellence for Loop.”

Loop’s decision to establish its regional headquarters in Abu Dhabi reflects the growing demand for EV technologies in the local and regional markets. Zack Martin, President and Co-Founder of Loop, highlighted the strategic importance of this move: “The UAE’s leadership has demonstrated its determination to lead the world’s clean-energy transition and has been exceptionally far-sighted in pursuit of its sustainability goals and the push to net-zero emissions.”

Abu Dhabi has ambitious plans to install tens of thousands of EV charging stations by 2030, with locations ranging from retail centres and multi-family residences to government offices and petrol stations. Reem Mall is among the first sites in Abu Dhabi to install Loop charging stations, marking the beginning of the emirate’s expansive EV infrastructure rollout.

Agility Global, an investor in Loop and a multi-business owner and operator listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), is playing a key role in supporting Loop’s establishment in the UAE. Tarek Sultan, Chairman of Agility Global, stated: “Agility Global shares Abu Dhabi’s vision of a cleaner energy future. By helping Loop establish roots here, we are able to help Abu Dhabi reach its sustainability goals, attract investment, create jobs, and become a center of innovation.”

Loop, headquartered in California, operates one of the largest charging networks in the United States, with over 6,500 chargers currently in operation. The company’s flagship products, the Flex and Infinity systems, cater to both passenger and commercial vehicles. The 22 kW EV-Flex stations provide up to 77 miles of range per hour, while the 300 kW Infinity Flash stations offer an impressive 800 miles of range per hour.

Loop’s technology offers significant benefits for both EV drivers and charging-station hosts. Through the Loop mobile app, drivers can locate the nearest chargers, initiate and monitor charging sessions, and pay for their usage. Additionally, the app allows for direct payment via credit card where available. Charging-station hosts benefit from Loop’s low total cost of ownership, no monthly network fees, and an industry-leading uptime, while retaining 90% of the charging revenue.
