AliExpress, the global e-commerce platform under Alibaba Group, has unveiled a new service allowing consumers in the UAE to purchase electric vehicles (EVs) directly through its platform. Set to launch during this month’s AliExpress Summer Sale, the service marks the first time EVs have been made available through a global online marketplace for UAE customers.
Initially available exclusively to buyers in the UAE, the service will expand to other GCC countries in the near future.
This move signals a major shift in the region’s automotive retail landscape, offering consumers the ability to browse and order the latest EV models — including popular names such as BYD, Geely, Jetour, and Toyota — through the AliExpress Big Save Channel. Vehicles will be shipped from China via sea freight.

AliExpress says the initiative aligns with the UAE’s Vision 2031, which aims to boost sustainable development and quality of life through innovation across key sectors. By making EVs more accessible to all income brackets, the platform hopes to support the country’s environmental and economic goals.
The timing of the launch coincides with strong momentum in the local EV market, noted a company spokesperson. There are currently more than 70,000 electric vehicles on UAE roads, with forecasts predicting this figure will rise to 100,000 by 2027. Growth is being fuelled by favourable government policies, investment in EV infrastructure, and increasing consumer awareness of environmental issues.
Beyond reducing emissions, EVs offer users the benefit of lower running costs and less maintenance compared to traditional internal combustion engine vehicles—a major selling point in a market increasingly focused on value and sustainability.
AliExpress, which boasts over 15 years of e-commerce experience, says its direct sales model introduces a new level of transparency and affordability to vehicle purchases. Customers will be able to view models, compare features, and secure delivery—all through a seamless online journey.
